Abstract

This paper presents the development of an automated system for water level control and pump dry-run protection, designed for condominiums and other high water consumption facilities. The study emphasizes the importance of rational water use and automation as strategies to reduce waste, operational failures, and maintenance costs. The proposed solution uses ultrasonic sensors, an Arduino microcontroller, and a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to continuously monitor water levels and activate pumps safely and efficiently. The methodology involved theoretical research, prototype construction, and tests simulating real condominium operation. The system was evaluated in both automatic and manual modes, including a bypass function for emergency situations.

Results demonstrated that automation reduces the risk of pump burnout, prevents dry-run operation, and provides significant savings in energy and maintenance. It is concluded that the project is technically viable, low-cost, and easily adaptable to different contexts, promoting more efficient, sustainable, and reliable water management.
